The Queen's visit

Her Majesty the Queen visited Crewkerne and we went to see if we could see her on her route through the town. We didn't hold out much hope because of the security around her.

Anyway, we headed off via Raymonds Hill, Birdsmoorgate, then on to Crewkerne where we were met by two Policemen who diverted our journey around the outskirts of the town. However, we decided to try and head back into the town and were met by some more Police who advised us to try and make our way up the street. People were lining the road as we drove up. They were looking at us as if we were part of the Royal party, all waving their flags and very excited. I couldn't believe we were driving along the road with so many people staring at us, but we finally found a parking spot with a great view where she would pass by us. We just had time to get the coffee on and a biscuit while we waited. Then the Police motorbikes started to drive by and then there she was in her lovely Rolls Royce. She looked beautiful in lilac with Prince Philip by her side. We were so excited! It meant so much to us. After that, the crowds dispersed and we headed back to Axminster.

We couldn't believe what had just happened - a good story to tell when we got back!
